Create your EssayQuest account.
(2 minutes)
You’ll follow the activities in EssayQuest to write your college essay.
Use your coupon code to create a free account. If you don’t have a coupon, please ask Rebecca.

Do the activities in the Foundation phase.
(45 — 60 minutes)
If you want to write an effective college essay, you need to know what one looks like and the process you’ll use to write yours.
In other words, you need to know where you’re going and how you’ll get there.
In the Foundation phase, you will:

- read the Get Started page (1–2 minutes | 1 page)
- read the College Essays 101 section (10–15 minutes | 6 pages)
- read the College Essays 102 section (10–15 minutes | 5 pages)
- take the VIA Character Strength Survey (15–20 minutes | 2 pages)
- read 3 more sample essays (10–15 minutes | 1 page)
If you’ve already done work on a college essay, spend a few minutes to review what you’ve written.
When you finish each page, click on the Next step button to go to the next page. The links above take you to the first page of each set of activities.
And no skimming, please! If you want a strong essay you need to build this strong foundation.
Navigating EssayQuest
EssayQuest is easy to get around. To get to any page, you can:
- use the main menu
- select a section on the Welcome Back page
the walking character logo in the upper left takes you to that page - click the Next step button at the bottom of any page

Start the Thinker phase.

Your Huntington essay guide may have told you to do these activities as well:
- The main Thinker page
- Find a bunch of Story Starters (find at least ten)
- Write a TON of raw content (write 3–4 blocks of raw content)
